    Hey David,

As a gay man, I adamantly oppose acts of violence, even toward Focus on the Family, which is responsible for some of the most violence ever brought about against a single group of people, including the Summer of Hate which culminated in the murder of Matthew Shepard. It can be argued that Focus on the Family is responsible for untold acts of violence against the gay community, and specifically toward young people.

Still, the gay community has come out against this egregious act, and they are right to do so.

But it’s ironic that when a gunman walks into a theater and shoots dozens of people, or when a gunman opens fire in a shopping mall parking lot, shooting a Congresswoman in the head, or when fanatics fly planes into skyscrapers, it’s the preachers, the religious, who immediately blame that violence upon the gay community (along
with atheists and abortionists). Now they can make these accusations directly, without ever questioning their own contribution to the violence that seems to be ratcheting up of late.

I’m also curious as to how the NRA will respond. Will they defend their “Second Amendment Rights” with just as much vigor now that they are the recipients of the violence?

Every time I listen to the political pundits I hear over and over again… “war against this… war against that… Second Amendment Remedies… Don’t retreat, reload… Paint a bull’s eye… Tiller the Baby Killer…”

We have a real problem with violence in our country, but instead of applying the balm of compassion and emotional intelligence in this area (all things which Jesus supposedly stood for), it’s the Christian Right that is feeding it, with profoundly violent and abusive rhetoric.

The reprehensible “people” at FRC and dare I say the entire right wing are truly evil and deranged though, not people with simply different political viewpoints than liberals and the mainstream. The only thing this gunman did wrong was not have a better plan and take out the entire building instead of just injuring a lone security guard. And as another gay man myself, I support what he did (or tried to do). The lunatics at FRC think gays are all pussies anyway. It’s time they be shown that we’re not people to be walked on like they and their inbred, uneducated, NASCAR-loving followers believe they can so easily do with us.

Think about it… Would it have been wrong ti take out Adolph Hitler before he had a chance to do all that he did? So why would it be wrong to put an end to the evil that comes out of FRC?

You mentioned two books by Aldous Huxley, Brave New World, which I read a long time ago and shall re-read. I didn’t catch the name of the second one. Was it Moksha? Great show. It helps one keep the feet firmly on the ground.
