    So the other day there was a question of “why smart people are so unattractive”. Here’s my response.

    First, as humans we have a genetic predisposition to favor attractiveness as common undesirable genetic traits can have phenotypical differences (think the Downs Syndrome moon face). Have you noticed that the severely mentally retarded often have a detectable physical difference in appearance?

    Second, if we are going by the white American traditional beauty aesthetic of the last 70 years, we are thinking of (for women) a very polished look that does take a good amount of time to create. It is not natural. One may say that because attractive people are given social feedback that encourages them to enhance their beauty, they will spend even more time trying to fit the archetype of beauty.

    In reference to today’s poll. Obamas pitch to the voters – The Republican party is the party for the 1%. The Party for the 99% should win Right? This would cover all those Issues!
