–Morality with Motamedi tackles an issue involving an orphanage, kids, and tax fraud.

–Michele Bachmann says she will bring back $2 per gallon gas if she is elected President, while her website recommends a book that blamed the North for the Civil War and praised slavery.

–Fox News implies Obama is to blame for child poverty increase from 2000-2009 until they realize George W. Bush was President most of that time, at which point they change their headline.

–Emails on George Orwell’s 1984 and today, parents and marijuana use, the 4-year-old preacher, and more.

    Hi guys,

    I’m in the process of listening to the 8-18 show and just listened to the bit where you are discussing Orwell’s 1984 and the parallels to what’s happening today. While I am not in 100% agreement with what David was saying about our communications being listened to by the government, the opinions of Louis and Natan are naive. I am not worried about a secret police state, but the different government groups are watching us, and the internet makes it easier. The communications companies (land line and mobile phone providers, internet providers, social networking companies, etc., ARE handing over whatever the government wants in order to follow their agenda. Additionally, while the government has been monitoring international phone calls under the catchall Patriot Act (they have admitted to this) they are in a position to listen to domestic communications as well. Email and other internet based traffic is being monitored. Hackers, some backed by foreign governments, are watching. If you don’t do it already I suggest you follow the Anonymous twitter account (@AnonymousIRC) or the accounts of others involved with them as they point to news articles (some mainstream sources) about the things I have mentioned above. You can read back through their old tweets for links to the stories. I’m not a crackpot but I may be starting to sound like one. Keep up the good work, guys. Thanks.
