MP3 Podcast: Get this and every other show we’ve ever done as a David Pakman Show Member

On the Show:

–Dr Laura advocates therapy to “fix” gays and lesbians, and we wonder why is it even valid for her to be giving any kind of advice to anyone about anything.

–With regard to Egypt, which side is America on? John McCain and Hillary Clinton comment, and John McCain is always an expert in hindsight.

–Fox News takes the alarmist “be scared of Muslims” approach in Egypt coverage.

–Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman was the CIA’s pointman on rendition, although barely anyone is mentioning it.

–A new study showing that women are most effective lawmakers confirms, through the chosen barometer for the study, the inherent complete corruption of the entire political and social system.

–House Republicans want to redefine rape to prevent access to safe and legal abortions in cases thout so called “forcible rape,” and has incredibly been dubbed a top priority by John Banner. Many types of rape would no longer count as rape, and women would not be eligible to have medicaid pay for an abortion.

–To protect children, a magazine was covered in a grocery store because it showed Elton John and his partner with their adopted child.

–Ryan Radia, Assistant Director of Technology Studies at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, joins us to discuss new legislation regarding police officers and looking through your mobile phone.

–Rand Paul wants to cut $500 billion per year by getting rid of many programs we need in a proposal so absurd that his communication director had to clarify that it was not satire.

–A new 31 ounce size at Starbucks called the Trenta offers more liquid than the average human stomach can hold, and we wonder about what is happening, look at an obesity map of the US, and try to figure out what on earth is going on.

–In another horrible food story, Taco Bell is being sued for alleged deceptive advertising for claiming that its ground beef product, which contains less than 40 percent beef, is actually beef.

–Poll results show that an overwhelming majority of the TDPS does not believe the GOP will be doing much of the cutting of spending it campaigned on.

–Emails about war spending, US bases being an economic stimulus, the proposed registry for domestic violence offenders, democracy, and more.

–On the Bonus Show Louis explains what happened with the TSA during his recent trip, as well as how he handles having to talk to the police, is the MTV show Skins actually child pornography, does the Confederate flag provoke racism, and more.

Because I like to share my thoughts:

About 9 years ago my family would listen to Dr. Laura and decide whether or not we agreed with her advice; usually we agreed. There were many times that she gave advice with the same condescending tone that everyone has now heard. She was a strong advocate of marrying within one’s religion; then I found out her parents were a mixed religion couple & I began to wonder if her views were a method of rebelling. She’s all about decency etc., and I found out she posed for nude photos in her younger years. She’s completely against divorce, and then I found out she’s in her second marriage, the first ending in divorce. Then I learned about her Ph.D. in physiology, much different than psychology. I totally lost respect for her seeing her as a “do what I say, not what I do” adviser.

McCain: I wonder what he means by, “the right side of history?” I wonder if he is familiar with the quote: “History is written by the winners.” ~Alex Haley. So it seems the best way to be on the “right side of history,” is to win the battles.

Boehner: I hope this House gets nothing accomplished since they are proving to be abominable idiots. The dumber they are, the better off we are, since they won’t be able to achieve anything.

    Thanks for another great show.

    Hello David and Louis

Re: Alan Nathan / Defense Spending

There was a bumper sticker in the 70s that suggested a perfect world would be one where schools are fully funded and the air force has to hold a bake sale if it wants a new bomber. I agree with that sentiment and suspect you do, too.

I commend your engagement with Mr. Nathan. It shows that you have both brains and balls. (And I’m disappointed that you don’t get more positive feedback.)

This argument should be a slam dunk for you. Unfortunately Mr. Nathan is able to score numerous points on you because he has firsthand perspective. He’s disingenuous, but his math reflects conditions on the ground. You could trounce him if you saw what military personnel see. I’m tapping you on the shoulder again here.

You are correct that we need to de-militarize our culture and focus our investments on education and community. However your failure to mention the BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) program suggests that you’re not familiar with it.

Nathan is correct that the military does attempt to reuse as much as possible. However, the smirk you hear in his voice is him getting over on you; he knows where money flows out like rain, just as we all do. But why should he bring it up if you don’t? Then you mention bullets. He must have laughed about that for an hour. He has no obligation to say “warmer, warmer, cold” while you feel around in the dark.

More importantly, progressives would not be pleased with the outcome of cutting back on base operations as opposed to, say, departmental auditing / budget cuts. Nathan mentioned reducing the federal payroll, which is what progressives should fight like hell against.

Military bases are small towns where low-income, racially and culturally diverse people live and work. They have everything on post; fast food places, convenience stores, parks, bowling alleys. Kids go to school on post. It’s irresponsible for you to press for the budget cuts to come out of their hides while Halliburger roams the halls.

Just sayin. Keep up the good work, you rock.

    XO

Lastly, dropping “cerebrally maladroit and intellectually abridged” in the middle of a sentence speaks volumes. It reminded me of a paunchy middle-aged guy in an expensive car / huge truck. If that doesn’t assure you that you’re ultimately in the right on this argument, nothing will.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first ten minutes of the show and I think yall will too….I sure hope Klingenschmitt got to keep whatever helmets the military issued him because he obviously needs them. by Evan Hurst…………….Ill let Alvin for you .Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association one of the groups SPLC named as an anti-gay hate group had a radio interview today on the David Pakman Show and in less than 30 minutes he proceeded to totally wreck any claims by the FRC that religious right groups don t peddle anti-gay hatred through junk science and propaganda giving new meaning to idea of giving someone enough rope to hang themselves..Indeed.
