David, Louis, and Natan,
regarding the Texas man who killed his daughter’s abuser, jeeze, I’m so glad you’re all in agreement that the abuser should die–how progressive of you. Yeah, let’s kill all sexual abusers of children: the death penalty is great!
David, remember your segment on research that showed that conservative ideology was associated with low-effort thought? I think this is a perfect example of gut reaction leading to a questionable viewpoint.
Hey, with the details you provided, I’d forgive the father too. His reaction was understandable, he did not mean to kill the abuser, and he feels remorse.
Presumably, though, the abuser stopped what he was doing when the father walked in, at which point the father could have taken the daughter to safety and called the police. The way you’re analyzing the case, the father had no choice and calling the police would have meant allowing the abuser to continue. That’s just poorly thought through!
And, really, David, death to all pedophiles? What other problems do you propose to solve by simply killing an entire category of people?
