On the Show:

–Ana Kasparian, co-host of The Young Turks, joins us to talk about conservatives having bigger fear centers in their brains, what happens during commercial breaks at The Young Turks, and much more.

–The world is abuzz over Louis hosting the last Bonus Show of 2010.

–What should progressives be doing in 2011? If you don’t like Obama, remember the previous guy, and what Republicans have said NO to since Obama took office.

–The latest Obama conspiracy theory is that he is a Native American, and that he wants to give the country back to Native Americans, which creates a direct conflict with the birthers. Also, the common bond in the theories is Obama’s skin color.

–Tucker Carlson wanted Michael Vick executed for killing dogs, prefacing his comments by saying he is a Christian. We list the things conservatives have called for the death penalty over, and wonder if Sarah Palin shooting a caribou on her show should she cause of execution as well.

–The Consistent Life Ethic is not middle of the road, does not even save lives, and simply makes no sense. We talk about abortion, the death penalty, euthanasia, and a less discussed politic of life, sending troops to war.

–Discussions about which wars to get into are necessary, but will not stop the economy or culture of wars that has existed in the US since the Vietnam War.

–Should the drinking age be lowered to 18? If people can join the army and vote, shouldn’t they be able to drink?

–Voicemails and emails from the audience about David looking like a character from Glee, top whatever lists from 2010, our interview with Alan Nathan, and more.

–On the Bonus Show: Another telemarketer prank call to the studio, healthcare reform repeal attempts, anti-smoking laws, much more.

You want liberals to take over on the ‘word’ game being mastered by the right, correct? Well, try this on for size; instead of saying ‘suspected terrorist being killed…’, why not ‘suspects being killed…’, this is sound, right? For sure, we are not attacking terrorist but labor. But I think you are not able to do this because you fear retro, this is why we lose(sp). Or Bret Favre is the S. Palin of football, he’s here but who ultimately gives a fook, he is a figure put forth by the league(sp) w/ no intrinsic value, none in the least!!!
I dont think you can do any of this, sir–I don’t. You are w/ fear for all of this. Am I wrong?

The problem with lowering the drinking age is that there are a number of young folks that are 18 in high school which would inevitably lead to more exposure by other high school kids. When I was in high school it was legal to purchase 3.2 beer at 18. There was never any trouble more than pitch ins to obtain a keg of 3.2 during high school at parties. Eventually they removed this availability.

    Hi there,

I’m adding my 2 cents worth on the drinking age. I love how everyone is concerned about college kids and drinking age, but they rarely look ahead to 18 year olds being legal, in high school and partying with 17, 16, and 15 year olds. That is my concern. Also, many college kids are drinking on campus — not driving much — and high schoolers are driving to get to parties.

I honestly would not be opposed to allowing those in the military to drink legally regardless of age; the benefit of serving one’s country prior to the standard legal drinking age. I suppose that would be unconstitutional in some way though.

And I just saw Eben’s comment and see that I am not alone in my concerns.
