This Week’s Topics:

–A pilot of the TV version of Midweek Politics is on the web, and we want your
feedback.

–The health care debate continues to rage, including a prime time press
conference from Barack Obama on the topic. Republicans say the process is moving
too fast and being rushed, while Democrats say it is too important to work on
slowly.

–Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders puts John McCain in an awkward position during
a health care hearing, and makes the argument that there is already socialized
health care in many aspects of the US government.

–Yet another conservative official sends racist anti-Obama email, this time
California Councilman Gary Frago forwarding an email suggesting that
African-Americans resemble monkeys, and further proceeds to say there is nothing
racist or wrong about it.

–The Sonia Sotomayor hearings have wrapped up, and there is no reason to think
she won’t be confirmed, which even Senator Lindsey Graham seems to agree with,
if you can understand his bizarre rambling analogies.

–Al Franken gets his chance to question Sonia Sotomayor, and uses the
opportunity to bring up the TV show Perry Mason.

–Newt Gingrich and others continue to say that Barack Obama is making the
country less safe, and is not taking the safety of Americans seriously.

–An unbelieveable number of journalists offered softball friendly interviews to
Republican South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford in the wake of his affair and
disappeareance, including from David Gregory, Griff Jenkins, and many others.

–Henry Louis Gates, Jr was arrested on his own front porch after police
received a call that two black men were trying to break into a house. Racial
profiling and disorderly conduct are thrown into the mix.

–Does anyone actually care about the top 5 discussed topics on Twitter?

–Crazy birthers who insist that Barack Obama should be removed as President
because he is not really a US citizen, including an unbelievable exchange at a
town hall meeting, and a Congressman talking to Chris Matthews.

–The 19th ethics complaint is filed against Sarah Palin, and her resignation
speech is corrected for content, spelling, and grammar by Vanity Fair.
